better than seeing the world by rail? If you answered yes to any of these
questions, don't miss this one-of-a-kind journey through the Pacific
Northwest where you will bask in breath taking scenery at every turn
aboard five different trains.
Itinerary
| Day 1 |
After a mid-morning arrival in Portland, journey down the Columbia River Gorge and dine at
Multnomah Lodge near the base of the second highest waterfall in country. Following lunch,
it's a short drive to Hood River and its famous railroad. Ride the rails in the shadow of Mt.
Hood, ending in Parkdale, then return back through the gorge by motorcoach to Vancouver,
Washington. The Heathman Lodge is our home for the night. (L)

| Day 2 |
| Ride the Cascade to Seattle |
Rise early this morning to meet our next train, Amtrak's Cascade. Equipped with European
cars manufactured by Talgo, the morning will be spent traveling in comfort as we pass Mt.
St. Helens, Mt. Rainier and Puget Sound. Arrive in Seattle in time for brunch in the revolving
restaurant high atop the world famous Space Needle. Enjoy some time on the observation
level before heading to the Holiday Inn in nearby Everett for a two night stay. (BR)

| Day 3 |
| Everett and the Spirit of Washington
|
Everett is home to Boeing's large jet manufacturing facility. Today we have a chance to see
wide-body jets being assembled in one of the world's largest buildings. Following the tour,
visit Boeing's new Future of Flight Aviation Center, a unique interpretive facility designed to
let visitors experience the marvel of commercial jet aviation and production. Lunch is in
nearby Mukilteo on the waters of Puget Sound. Returnto the hotel in time to freshen up for
our next rail adventure - a fine dining experience aboard the Spirit of Washington. Dinner is
served in the dome car while we travel the eastern shore of Lake Washington as the sunset

| Day 4 |
Reboard the Cascade for its final leg through Northwestern Washington and across the
Canadian border to Vancouver, British Columbia. We’ll arrive just in time for lunch - this time
by the water's edge at The Fish House nestled in Stanley Park. For the next two evenings,
enjoy fine Canadian hospitality at the Lonsdale Quay Hotel, located adjacent to one of the
finest markets in Vancouver. (B,L)

| Day 5 |
Our final rail experience begins as we step aboard the Whistler Mountaineer. Enjoy meal
service at your seat in the private dome car as we head north to Whistler. Best known as a ski
resort, summer in Whistler is no less beautiful as it is surrounded by the majestic Blackcomb
Mountains. On the way back to Vancouver by motorcoach, we'll pause in Squamish, home
to British Columbia's preserver of all things rail, the Western Railway Heritage Park. Once back
in Vancouver, a gala farewell dinner awaits at the Aqua Riva Restaurant near Canada Place in
Downtown Vancouver. (D)

| Day 6 |
| Return to the U.S. and Home
|
Say good-bye to Canada as we cross the border back into the good ol' USA, stopping in
Bellingham for lunch and its newest attraction, the Bellingham Railway Museum. Want to run
your own model railroad? We'll have the chance here before returning to Seattle for your
early evening flight home. (L)
