Itinerary

Day 1
Arrive Portland, Oregon
After a mid-morning arrival in Portland, journey down the Columbia River Gorge and dine at Multnomah Lodge near the base of the second highest waterfall in country. Following lunch, it's a short drive to Hood River and its famous railroad. Ride the rails in the shadow of Mt. Hood, ending in Parkdale, then return back through the gorge by motorcoach to Vancouver, Washington. The Heathman Lodge is our home for the night. (L)
Day 2
Ride the Cascade to Seattle
Rise early this morning to meet our next train, Amtrak's Cascade. Equipped with European cars manufactured by Talgo, the morning will be spent traveling in comfort as we pass Mt. St. Helens, Mt. Rainier and Puget Sound. Arrive in Seattle in time for brunch in the revolving restaurant high atop the world famous Space Needle. Enjoy some time on the observation level before heading to the Holiday Inn in nearby Everett for a two night stay. (BR)
Day 3
Everett and the Spirit of Washington
Everett is home to Boeing's large jet manufacturing facility. Today we have a chance to see wide-body jets being assembled in one of the world's largest buildings. Following the tour, visit Boeing's new Future of Flight Aviation Center, a unique interpretive facility designed to let visitors experience the marvel of commercial jet aviation and production. Lunch is in nearby Mukilteo on the waters of Puget Sound. Returnto the hotel in time to freshen up for our next rail adventure - a fine dining experience aboard the Spirit of Washington. Dinner is served in the dome car while we travel the eastern shore of Lake Washington as the sunset paints the western sky. (B,L,D)
Day 4
Seattle to Vancouver
Reboard the Cascade for its final leg through Northwestern Washington and across the Canadian border to Vancouver, British Columbia. We’ll arrive just in time for lunch - this time by the water's edge at The Fish House nestled in Stanley Park. For the next two evenings, enjoy fine Canadian hospitality at the Lonsdale Quay Hotel, located adjacent to one of the finest markets in Vancouver. (B,L)
Day 5
Whistler
Our final rail experience begins as we step aboard the Whistler Mountaineer. Enjoy meal service at your seat in the private dome car as we head north to Whistler. Best known as a ski resort, summer in Whistler is no less beautiful as it is surrounded by the majestic Blackcomb Mountains. On the way back to Vancouver by motorcoach, we'll pause in Squamish, home to British Columbia's preserver of all things rail, the Western Railway Heritage Park. Once back in Vancouver, a gala farewell dinner awaits at the Aqua Riva Restaurant near Canada Place in Downtown Vancouver. (D)
Day 6
Return to the U.S. and Home
Say good-bye to Canada as we cross the border back into the good ol' USA, stopping in Bellingham for lunch and its newest attraction, the Bellingham Railway Museum. Want to run your own model railroad? We'll have the chance here before returning to Seattle for your early evening flight home. (L)
