Free Spirit Vacations presents "Lowe Road" Tour Series

Gilbert, Arizona — Free Spirit Vacations, a Gilbert based tour operator, and travel journalist Sam Lowe have teamed up to offer a "Lowe Road" Arizona tour series. Every two months, a getaway will be conducted to an off-the-beaten path destination in Arizona, beginning with the "Standin' on the Corner" Festival, September 29-30, 2006 in Winslow.

Sam Lowe is author of the book "Arizona Curiosities - Quirky Characters, Roadside Oddities and other Offbeat Stuff" and is currently writing a second edition to the series. He also is a frequent contributor for AAA Highroads, The Arizona Republic, and Arizona Highways Magazine. Sam will design AND lead the tour. "Arizona as we know it is the product of both nature and progress. It was carved by the elements and reshaped by developers. But those two big factors are also assisted by people who turn rocks into giant frogs, junked cars into dinosaurs and fences into works of art. Some of them preserve the history of Arizona; others give the state its unique character. And the purpose of our journeys is to look at character and, perhaps, meet some characters." says Lowe.

Other Lowe Road Tours include:

  • November 18, 2006: Great Road Art.
  • January 24, 2007: The murals of Tucson
  • March 28-29, 2007: The birds of Santa Cruz County.
  • May 2-3, 2007: Route 66
  • July 18-19, 2007: The Dinosaurs of Holbrook.
  • Septmber 12-13, 2007: The Best of Cochise County

Free Spirit Vacations has been offering travel packages for the 50+ age group for the past ten years. Recently they were awarded the Top Tour Operator in North America by the North America Travel Journalists Association based on the diversity of product and the quality of service offered. "A tour is more than the destination," states Sue Arko, owner of Free Spirit Vacations. "Our business is about people and sharing the world with them. We look forward to sharing the treasurers of Arizona throughout this series of packages."
