Meet the Branson Brothers:
Jimmy Ponder
Jimmy is a native of the south. Born and raised in Fayetteville, NC, his musical
roots stem from the church and gospel music. His father was a Baptist minister
and his mother a school teacher. Both were singers and loved to sing in church.
Jimmy's interest in music developed from his desire to play the guitar and at
thirteen decided to learn to play. At age seventeen he started his own gospel
group and continued to pursue music when in 1982 decided to move to
Nashville where just one year later landed his first full time job singing in a
Quartet performing in a small theatre on music row in Nashville and touring.
That group known as the Tennessee Valley Boys moved to Branson in 1985
and began performing. In 1988 the Tennessee Valley Boys changed their
name to the Branson Brothers landed a job at Silver Dollar City Theme park in
their outdoor amphitheatre headlining the Echo Hollow Show. In 1991 The
Branson Brothers signed a recording contract with Warner Brothers Records
and released their first album, called "Heartmender". In 1994 the group
disbanded, and Jimmy started the group Pierce Arrow along with partner Dan
Britton.
Jimmy performed at the Ozark Mountain Hoedown as a solo artist and later
founded the group New South at the "Grand Jubilee" show. Most recently
Jimmy revived the Branson Brothers and is currently producing and performing
in the Branson Brothers Show at the God and Country Theater.
David Ponder
David has been in the music business his entire life. He started out singing in
Gospel Quartets at the age of 12 in North Carolina and throughout the south. He
began performing on the Las Vegas stages at the age of 18 and during that time
was on many major TV shows, like The Merv Griffin Show and The Mike Douglas
Show. After that he moved to Nashville, TN where he sang with JD Sumner and The
Stamps Quartet, The Downings, and many others. In 1982 he formed a country
group with some friends called "Memphis". They had several Top 40 hits on Country
radio and 2 number 1's on Canadian Country radio in the mid-80's. Memphis
traveled as the opening act for the late Marty Robbins, Steve Wariner, and The
Charlie Daniels Band during that time.
He has produced and worked with many top Christian artists, including The Gaither
Vocal Band, Russ Taff, Mark Lowry, The Crabb Family, Ponder, Sykes & Wright,
and many others. David also co- produced 4 albums for The Oak Ridge Boys (for
which he won a Dove award for and was a featured artist on). David has been on
many of The Gaither Homecoming videos and traveled full-time for 2 year (2006-7)
with The Gaither Homecoming tour. "I have done many things throughout my
career, but I am more excited about singing with my brother (Jimmy) and The
Branson Brothers than anything I've done in a long time."
Dee Allen
Dee was born near Nashville, TN to a musical family; father Duane Allen is a
member of country music legends The Oak Ridge Boys and his mother, Norah Lee,
is a member of the Carol Lee Singers back-up group on the Grand Ole Opry. Dee
pursued many interests as a youth including karate, comic-book art and cooking.
Once he picked up a guitar at age 15, his future path was set.
Dee spent many years appearing in Nashville clubs, both as a solo artist, and with
his rock band Tall Dark Stranger. He briefly sang baritone with the Oak Ridge Boys
and performed on their TNN series, "Live From Las Vegas ."
Dee is currently in his sixth season as a Branson performer, and is working on the
next Tall Dark Stranger album. More information can be found at talldarkstranger.net.
Diana Ponder
Diana has been performing since the age of seventeen when she entered a talent
contest at the Presley's Jubilee and was hired as a regular on their show as a
result of her performance.
Diana was a featured performer on the Moe Bandy show for three years and was
also a feature with Branson City Lights at the Remington theatre. She has also
performed at the 76 Music Hall with the Memory Makers, 76 Country USA and the
Grand Jubilee.
Diana has a beautiful voice whether she sings a country song or a classic from
the Forties [her favorite style of music]. Diana's beautiful smile and commanding
stage performance makes her irresistible to any audience.
Diana has been described by her audience as "Classy" and she is that in every
sense of the word.
